Our republic requires a resilient, literate, and thoughtful citizenry. But only 24% of Americans have read even part of a book in the past year.

So how do we encourage ourselves to become lifelong readers? Harvard freshman John Fish has some ideas.

After realizing that his schooling was getting in the way of his education, Fish made a New Year’s resolution to read a book each week. Now he’s fallen back in love with reading again. Listen to his testimony on how he did it.
